The location and registration details will be announced shortly.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America-Maryland Chapter will be holding its annual Lobby Day on Tuesday, January 23rd beginning at 9:00 am. We will meet on Lawyer’s Mall, 100 State Circle in Annapolis, hold a rally, and then go inside for training. Participants will then lobby legislators in small groups to pass a law that would help keep guns out of the hands of convicted domestic abusers. The law currently prohibits convicted abusers from possessing firearms, but in reality, convicts are not notified of this prohibition, nor is there any procedure in place to make sure that they comply. The proposed law would close this loophole and keep victims of domestic abuse (and all of us) safer. Other states, such as Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Nevada, have enacted similar legislation. No prior lobbying experience needed–each group will have a leader who will guide the meetings!
DTMGers & friends going to the Women’s March will be gathering at the NW corner of 17th Street & Constitution Ave. NW at 10 AM. Look for the Do The Most Good Banner!
We will start walking toward the Lincoln Memorial with the DTMG banner about 10:15am. If you arrive later, look for the banner in the crowd!
DoTheMostGood’s Immigration and Civil Liberties Team has organized an outreach project with grassroots leaders in the myriad immigrant communities that are part of the fabric of our county. The intent is to open a dialogue, and to discuss the issues of concern in each community, attitudes towards voting and ways to encourage greater participation in elections. The outreach is being done in focus group-style sessions, each one facilitated by a two-person interview team. To date we’ve trained volunteer interviewers and recorders in two two sessions. Our third session is scheduled for Thursday, January 18 at 7:30 PM at the MoCo Democratic Central Committee headquarters in Kensington. No special skills are required…just an interest in reaching out to our neighbors and understanding how we can work together to build a more inclusive community that works for all residents.
